Complete the Know How Network Enrollment Form and email it to us along with your resume if available. We’ll contact you to find out more about your skills, interests, and availability. Volunteers ages 55+ are eligible to participate in the Know How Network.
We provide project management support and coaching to volunteers and nonprofits during the execution of the project. When you accept a volunteer opportunity, we assist you and the nonprofit in writing the Scope of Work which defines the project and its outcomes and establishes roles and responsibilities.
You and the nonprofit decide the timeline for completion. Usually projects are flexible and stretch over a one to three month period, with an average of 2 to 4 hours per week. And, often the majority of work is done virtually.
We let you know about nonprofits nearby and their projects that best match your needs. We participate with you and the nonprofit staff at an introductory meeting to obtain detailed information about the project and get answers to your questions.
Know How Network volunteers are covered by supplemental Accident, Personal and Automobile Liability insurance while traveling to and from the nonprofit and at volunteer sites. Volunteers may request a modest stipend (currently a maximum of $10 per month) to defray the cost of getting to and from your volunteer location.
